I finally made my mind and moved away from Windows 10.

Had too many issues with it: Too slow, crashing apps, apps not working like they used to did with Windows 8.1 and cherry on top the OneDrive integration which works just so much better on Windows 8.1.

Last piece for this decision was that Microsoft is planning to show ads on Windows 10! Not something that I want to see on my desktop!

So now my main working environment consists from two computers:

iMac 27”, an older model (mid 2010) but it has 16GB of memory and 1TB hard drive, totally capable of running 2-3VMWare images simultaneously. Speed is not 100% there, I will use this now for couple of weeks and see if I need to upgrade this one into a newer model. I have also connected into this one an external display (HP Compaq LA2405wg), I was hoping to connect two but only one connector… MacBook Pro 13”, not an new one either (late 2013) together with one external display (HP Compaq LA5405wg). Has same 16GB memory and 1TB SSD...

I have now played with Windows 10 on my desktop for a week and I’m quite ready to move back to Windows 8.1 or even Windows 7.

From what I have experienced the performance of Windows 10 is not where it was on this machine with Windows 8.1. Seems like there is an issue with I/O or how it’s being handled, my mouse freezes too much when lots of applications are open and busy doing stuff in the background.

I also have lots of issues with plain Microsoft tools like Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus I’m using.

Microsoft Office tools like Excel have had feature on Windows 8.1 that when right clicking program in Task Bar it has shown pinned and recent items list. This list has pretty much gone on Windows 10. Or it works, but only...

For all of those who are wondering, I’m on Facebook strike. My plan is to stop using Facebook and this far I have managed to do just that.

I have logged out from Facebook, cleared all Facebook cookies from my computer, have not again logged into this tool and plan not to. I have not installed Facebook app on my phone (have not done that before either).

We will see how well this goes in the near future.

And as I have already heard couple of times the question why is this, here’s some insight into this:

I have been admin in couple of Facebook groups and...

For the past years I have been using my navigator as a MP3 player, but I have now listened so many times all of my MP3 songs that it was time for a new solution.

After searching I found my self looking into Google Music service and it’s offline capabilities. I will need to use this in offline mode in order to save data connection costs for trips outside of Finland.

Next was to find proper hardware for it with following:

minimum of 64GB free storage WLAN and bluetooth Android devices with proper amount of memory are hard to find and those which would have Android 4.2 or newer with support for sdxc memory card even harder. Android 4.2 is important to have as Google Music supports storing of it’s offline files into memory card in that version forward.

One option would have been Apple iPad, but would not want to carry extra cable for nothing with me just to charge it and also those devices are bigger as well.

I was trying to get MP3 files out from Google Music as well and...

One of these things that I needed to sort out as my transition from Windows to OS X laptop was the ability to plan my trips when on the move.

For that purpose I was originally planning to use good old Garmin MapSource under VMWare on my OS X, but I decided to give Garmin BaseCamp a fair try.

I had read that it now has capability of changing database location to some user defined path so first thing I did was that I switched this into path that was under my SkyDrive folder:
